kris wadsworth is an integral part of detroits new wave, and with its time he wears his citys heart on his sleeve, delving into the electronic music legacy of his home town and showcasing the range of his own talent. the epic 10-minute title track >its time< is secret journey through the citys pulsing underground. it begins with a primal techno kick that rings out from afar, distorted by distance and brimming with a sense of anticipation. a gravelly male voice demands to know what time it is, declaring that >its time for that dirty shit, that dope shit, that detroit shit<, and the beat then kicks in, gritty and purposeful. the track then does a surprising about-face, abandoning the fist-pumping techno for just high hats and vocals, and transforming into a new phase that nods to detroits other great legacy: electro. grimy electro breaks and wiry melodies are spun before evolving again into deep house, with a see-saw duet of pads, and double-time hand claps. kris own >move dat ass remix< of his track >det sound< takes the dubby 2010 original, and reworks it as a ferocious bass and drums workout with dizzy vocal arrangements and blasting sirens.

dutch export ion ludwigs first offering for londons trelik imprint is a lesson in stripped back, mechanical groove-funk. title track >as the reaction followed i knew my feelings were right< is a rolling groover with nods to the kdj and theo school of deep house, with oven warm harmonies and vintage key sequences and lucid pads pushing the track along for its eight minute duration. flip over for >l sable<, which takes things in a more hypnotic direction with insistent stabs, a funky bubbling bassline and one of those vocals that you will be happily humming for days. forget what people are saying about old-skool and nu-skool deep house, this is simply house music at its very best.

jack is back you could say, but he has never really left us. far from it, jack is the godfather of all less productions. modern oldschool house maybe? jeazon its >your deal<, is the real deal, beacause the mood of this track is driven by the vocals which was seemingly recorded in the deepest chicago underground. talking large noising the track is most fun on the dancefloor.
>its not the same< is the candy for the costumer, a potential tech-house hymn, seldom before house vocals were so well arranged with a techno track and merged to a neurotransmitter pushing sound impression.
the enliven deep acoustics remix foils the whole thing with the desired portion of funk and is showing perspectives, jack would have appreciated.

played by sebo k, karotte... layo and bushwacka! are equally at home turning out summery housey affairs as they are peak time stormers, and >now is the time / the time was then definitely fits into the latter category. a double header, the loose concept behind the release is to represent the sound of the dancefloor now versus the sound from a few years ago. >now is the time< has its feet placed firmly in 2008 - a crisp, clean techno bassline, topped by hand claps, snatches of breathy female vocal, and full of an irresistible array rattles, whooshes and other indefinable sounds that the duo seem to pull from the depths of their imaginations. it breaks with some simple electronic sounding chords and a stirring martin luther king sample that makes this record so memorable. >the time was then< is based around that same sample, but gives a cheeky nod to a few years back, with a bassline and keys that wouldnt have sounded out of place on their seminal night works album. it never goes too far towards nostalgia, though, and either would rip up a late night dancefloor
